Formed in 1987 with a mission to serve individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia; the program then expanded its focus in 1998 to meet more needs in Northeast Tennessee. Serving a six-county area, ALPS now provides affordable, comprehensive, therapeutic adult-day services to participants who are cognitively and/or physically impaired. These adults may require supervision, socialization and assistance with personal care or activities of daily living. This grant assists ALPS with a new flooring project. By replacing carpet and tiling into consistent flooring, ALPS will expand its usable space, aid in fall prevention and allow for safer mobility for seniors using walkers, canes or wheelchairs.
